Friend Family Health Center, Inc. Announces Plans to Become Friend Health New Name Better Reflects Services of Merged Entity

Friend Family Health Center (FFHC) has announced that it will soon become Friend Health. FFHC merged with its wholly owned subsidiary, Human Resources Development Institute, Inc. (HRDI) in December 2017, and collectively represent a network of community health centers and community mental health centers which provide comprehensive medical, dental, and behavioral health care services to more than 45,000 individuals. With this name change, the health system will move to a more integrated, patient-centered, and recognizable system of care for the individuals and communities of Chicago’s South Side.

All FFHC locations will adopt the Friend Health name and logo, and Human Resources Development Institute will operate as HRDI, a subsidiary of Friend Health. The naming structure will allow consumers to more easily distinguish Friend Health care locations and services. While the name is changing, the organization is not changing its ownership or business structure.

“One of our objectives in bringing these two organizations together was to collectively develop a strategy that reflects the desired brand of the newly combined entity”, said Verneda Bachus, CEO of Friend Family Health Center, Inc. “This name change signals an important milestone in our organization’s growth. We are evolving into a more integrated and consumer-centered care delivery model that better addresses the needs of the individuals and communities we serve.
Friend Health is the springboard to differentiating ourselves. Good friends are good for our health. Friendship is something we admire and want. This is what we aspire to as an organization.”

“The opportunities this name change brings for our patients and clients are exciting”, said Sean Harden, Board Chairman for Friend Family Health Center, Inc. “We look forward to the continued integration of behavioral health services available to our patients, as well as the expansion of high-quality primary medical and dental services to our mental health and substance use disorder clients. As a combined entity, we are better able to meet the health needs of the communities we serve and bolster the mission our organization – to provide a high quality, patient-centered, integrated system of care for ALL.”

A transition campaign initiates in March, which will include changes to signage and other visual elements. “We aren’t just changing our name”, said Bachus. “We are focusing on every aspect of our organization as we continue to improve the experience for our patients and clients. While we work through the process of changing our name, our focus will continue to be on them, their health and their lives.”
